Peer Advisor

University of Texas at Austin
Onsite

About The Position

Peer advisors are UT Austin students trained to help their peers explore the range of available study abroad opportunities that best fit their academic, professional, and personal goals. Representing diverse backgrounds, experiences, and academic majors found within the UT student body, peer advisors serve as role models that draw upon their own study abroad experiences for peer-to peer mentoring. Peer advisors are available during Education Abroad walk-in hours, via email, tabling across campus, at special events, and at information sessions throughout the academic year. The Peer Advisor position is a paid opportunity for students who have already gone abroad, or are currently abroad this summer, to gain paraprofessional experience at Texas Global. Peer Advisors will serve as mentors to any student considering international opportunities through Education Abroad, including faculty-led, exchange, and affiliated programs. Peer Advisors will assist with study abroad recruitment, marketing and outreach, event programming, maintaining parts of the Education Abroad website and social media, and general advising. In addition, Peer Advisors will be a main point of contact for all office visitors, including answering phone calls and office emails, related to Education Abroad.
