About The Position

Foster Poultry Farms, a family-owned company since 1939, is seeking a Peeler Operator for its Cooked operations in Demopolis. This role is crucial in ensuring the quality and safety of products delivered to customers. The Peeler Operator is responsible for efficiently removing casings from fully cooked wieners, feeding them through a peeling machine, and unloading rods from the chiller. This position requires close collaboration with supervisors, leads, and team members to maintain accuracy and quality standards. Requirements

  • Must be able to work weekends, holidays, varying shifts, and overtime as needed.
  • Must be able to submit and pass a criminal background check, drug screen, and E-verify.
  • Must be able to read and write English legibly.
  • Must be detail oriented and proficient in mathematics.
  • Must have reliable transportation.
  • Must have basic computer skills including, but not limited to, Excel, Word, and Outlook.
  • Ability to communicate with all levels including management.
  • Must be able to work with minimal supervision.
  • Decision making ability for the flagging of deviation from procedures.
  • Able to work safely and set an example of safe working habits for their coworkers.
  • Must be able to pass company Forklift assessments to obtain company issued Forklift license.
  • Must wear company provided Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
  • Must have a high school diploma or equivalent (GED).

Responsibilities

  • Remove casings (peeling) from fully cooked wieners in an efficient manner, feeding continuous strands of wieners through a peeling machine.
  • Unload rods from chiller.
  • Adhere to Personal Protective Equipment properly.
  • Help maintain and improve quality and food safety, to ensure compliance with company quality standards and USDA regulatory requirements.
  • Must work in a safe manner.
  • Other duties, as assigned.
