About The Position

NeighborHealth is seeking a Board Certified/Board Eligible Pediatrician to join our Pediatric Same Day Services team on a per diem basis. This role offers the opportunity to provide high-quality acute and episodic care to children and adolescents in a fast-paced outpatient setting while working alongside an experienced multidisciplinary team dedicated to serving our diverse community. Our Pediatric Same Day Services clinic supports more than 60,000 pediatric visits annually, providing timely evaluation and treatment for acute illnesses, injuries, and other urgent health concerns. As a Per Diem Pediatrician, you will focus exclusively on same-day pediatric care, helping ensure patients have access to prompt, compassionate treatment when they need it most. Providers practice in a collaborative environment supported by physicians, nurse practitioners, nurses, medical assistants, behavioral health clinicians, care navigators, and readily available interpreters. Additional support services include onsite laboratory, radiology, and pharmacy resources, allowing for comprehensive and coordinated patient care.

Requirements

  • MD or DO degree from an accredited medical school
  • Board Certified or Board Eligible in Pediatrics
  • Current MD licensure in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts
  • DEA certification and Massachusetts Controlled Substance Registration (or ability to obtain)
  • If trained abroad, an ECFMG certificate stating that the foreign physician has passed the examinations appropriate for medical licensure.
  • The physician should have successfully completed an internship and residency program within the United States.
  • Demonstrated commitment to providing high-quality, patient-centered pediatric care
  • Passion for serving diverse and underserved communities
  • Working knowledge of electronic medical record systems; Epic experience preferred
  • Ability to use clinical and operational data to evaluate outcomes and improve quality
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, collaboration, and teaching skills
  • Ability to thrive in a team-based care environment

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working in an ambulatory pediatric or community health setting preferred
  • Bilingual English/Spanish skills strongly preferred, though not required

Responsibilities

  • Provide same-day pediatric evaluation, diagnosis, and treatment for acute illnesses and injuries.
  • Assess and manage common pediatric conditions in an outpatient setting.
  • Order and interpret appropriate laboratory and diagnostic testing.
  • Prescribe medications and develop evidence-based treatment plans.
  • Collaborate closely with primary care providers to ensure appropriate follow-up and continuity of care.
  • Coordinate referrals to specialists, emergency services, and other community resources when clinically indicated.
  • Document patient encounters in Epic EMR utilizing available clinical technology and tools.
  • Contribute to a patient-centered, culturally responsive care environment that supports children and families.
