About The Position

This is a 1.0 FTE (40 hours per week) pediatric physical therapist position at Gillette Children's. The primary site for the position is our 305 East Nicollet Boulevard Burnsville, MN 55337 location and the candidate may be required to travel occasionally to other Gillette sites. The physical therapist position requires practicing in various settings including outpatient, telehealth, and occasional weekend rotation at the hospital inpatient unit. Schedule: 4, 10 hour shifts/week, aquatic therapy 2 half days/week Monday: 7:00am-5:30pm Tuesday: 8:00am-6:60pm Wednesday: OFF Thursday: 7:45-6:15 Friday: 7:00am-5:30pm Provides direct and indirect family centered therapy services for patients to increase functional abilities, independence and community integration. Contributes to department, program and service teams to assure achievement of desired outcomes.

Requirements

  • Physical Therapy State License
  • Registration and Licensure pending, not to exceed three months in this status
  • Current certification in CPR (BLS for Healthcare Providers through American Heart Association) or must obtain certification within 90-days of hire.
  • Knowledge of transition from pediatric to adult health and rehabilitation care and of rehabilitation practice for adults with Childhood onset disabilities.
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Knowledge of child growth and development, rehabilitation theory and practice with a wide variety of childhood onset diagnoses and related considerations including anatomy and neurology, emotional behavior factors, family needs and issues, community transition and equipment.
  • Effective verbal and written communication
  • Ability to function as an effective team member
  • Competency in physical therapy evaluation, treatment and family/community education and planning for transition to community services.

Nice To Haves

  • Pediatric experience strongly preferred in Burnsville, Minnetonka, Maple Grove and St. Paul; desirable at Phalen Adult Clinic.
  • Experience working with adults with childhood onset disabilities strongly preferred at Phalen Adult; desirable in Burnsville, Minnetonka, Maple Grove and St. Paul.
  • Pediatric experience strongly preferred
  • Virtual care experience
  • Experience working with adults with childhood onset disabilities desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Completes an evaluation utilizing principles of family-centered care.

  • Completes necessary administrative and procedural tasks in a timely manner.
  • Completes training in essential job competencies.
