Nemours is seeking a Phlebotomist (Full-Time), to join our Nemours Children's Health team in Wilmington, Delaware. This role is for a pediatric skilled phlebotomist whose primary responsibility is to collect specimens (primarily blood specimens, collected by venipuncture or capillary puncture). The schedule is Monday through Friday, 8:30am - 5:00pm, with no weekends. Days will be determined based on scheduling needs. The phlebotomist will collect specimens on patients of all ages, but primarily pediatric patients, paying close attention to patient safety, comfort, and accuracy of information. Patients may include newborns or complex patients with special needs. The role requires attention to collecting appropriate specimens for ordered tests and appropriate blood amounts, considering the patient's size and condition to minimize discomfort. The phlebotomist will also distribute specimens, perform associated paperwork or computer entry, collect specimens on adults as assigned, use information systems, record information accurately, provide reception services, pick up and deliver specimens, maintain a neat work area, perform cleaning duties, and follow all laboratory and hospital safety and infection control policies. The ability to use Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and new safety protocols is essential.
