About The Position

West Virginia University School of Medicine and the Department of Pathology, Anatomy & Laboratory Medicine (PALM) seek a Pediatric Pathologist qualified for appointment at the Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, or Professor rank to lead our pediatric pathology services at the WVU Medicine Golisano Children’s Hospital. The successful candidate will be expected to practice in Morgantown, WV The West Virginia University Health System is West Virginia’s largest health system and the state’s largest employer with more than 3,400 licensed beds, 4,600 providers, 35,000 employees, and $7 billion in total operating revenues. The Health System is comprised of 25 hospitals – including J.W. Ruby Memorial Hospital, an 880-bed academic medical center, and the 150-bed WVU Medicine Golisano Children’s Hospital in Morgantown, West Virginia – and five institutes. Morgantown is consistently rated as one of the best small metropolitan areas in the country for both lifestyle and business climate. The area offers the cultural diversity and amenities of a large city in a safe, family-friendly environment. There is also an excellent school system and an abundance of beautiful homes and recreational activities. Morgantown is located just over an hour south of Pittsburgh, PA and three hours from Washington, D.C. and Baltimore, MD.

Requirements

  • Candidate must have an MD or DO degree or foreign equivalent and be eligible for state medical license.
  • Successful candidates must have completed an AP or AP/CP residency, as well as a Pediatric Pathology fellowship, and must be board certified / eligible in Pediatric Pathology.
  • All qualifications must be met by the time of appointment.

Responsibilities

  • Practice as a Pediatric Pathologist within a subspecialty-based system.
  • Responsibilities include all facets of pediatric and perinatal pathology, such as signing out pediatric surgical specimens and perinatal autopsies.
  • Act as a key liaison to a broad and growing team of pediatricians, pediatric surgeons, and other related subspecialists.
  • Play a vital role in shaping the pathology support for one of the region’s premier children’s hospitals.
  • Participate in other clinical subspecialty or administrative areas of expertise/interest.
  • Collaborate on research and scholarly activities with faculty across WVU departments.
  • Actively involved in teaching medical students, residents, and fellows.
