About The Position

Cook Children’s Health Care System (CCHCS) in Fort Worth, Texas, has an opportunity for a full-time board eligible/board certified Pediatric Palliative Care physician. The successful candidate will join a well-established, high functioning interdisciplinary team which includes four physicians, four nurse practitioners, nurses and clinical therapists who work in close collaboration with spiritual care and child life teams. We are a consultative service within a large pediatric healthcare system, including a 477-bed tertiary care pediatric hospital with an average daily inpatient census of 20-30 patients. We also regularly see patients for new consults or follow-up visits on an outpatient basis in our own in-person clinic or via our virtual home-based telemedicine program. Call responsibility will be 1:5. The team sees patients of all ages and all stages of disease. We follow patients with a diverse variety of medical conditions. There are opportunities to work with home-based hospice services if desired. Good communication and collaboration skills and flexibility are desired qualities. Teaching, committee, and research opportunities are available to those who are interested.

Requirements

  • Doctor of Medicine (M.D.) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (D.O.) required.
  • Unrestricted Texas Medical license (must obtain prior to start date).
  • Successfully completed an Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) or American Medical Association (AMA) approved residency for pediatrics.
  • Board certified/board eligible in Hospice and Palliative Medicine.
  • American Heart Association BLS and PALS.
  • DEA Registration #CCPN
