About The Position

The Bridges Pediatric Palliative Care APP delivers care aligned with a defined scope of practice in pediatric palliative care, with work expectations operationalized through departmental workflows, productivity standards, and performance expectations consistent with the collective bargaining agreement (CBA) and institutional policies. This role is structured to meet contract-defined work expectations of a maximum of 1792 clinical hours, inclusive of weekday-only coverage, aligned with the clinical coverage model and patient care needs of the service. The Bridges Pediatric Palliative Care APP will participate in departmental scheduling processes, excluding weekends/holidays/call responsibilities, with scheduling practices aligned to contract provisions, equitable distribution of coverage, and maintenance of safe, consistent clinical operations. This is a remarkable opportunity for an Advanced Practice Professional to join the Bridges Pediatric Palliative Care Team at Doernbecher Children’s Hospital. As part of the interdisciplinary team alongside physicians, RNs, chaplains and social workers, the APP will provide excellent clinical care to seriously ill children in the inpatient and outpatient areas. The APP also will have the opportunity to collaborate with other organizations in Oregon to improve the care of children living with life-limiting illness. The APP will work in collaboration with the Medical Director of the Bridges Palliative Care Program, faculty, staff and OHSU leadership to provide service which furthers the University’s missions and goals of teaching, research, patient care, outreach and public service. While palliative care experience is strongly preferred, mentorship is available for a dynamic, collaborative advanced practice provider who is eager to learn and has a “hospice heart.” The APP faculty will have numerous opportunities to become involved in quality improvement work, education, research, and childhood advocacy. Doernbecher Children’s Hospital, the Department of Pediatrics, and the Division of Palliative Care are committed to developing our faculty members’ careers. There is also a pathway for academic advancement for APPs at OHSU. Professional participation is expected, including attendance in relevant educational conferences and didactic conferences. As teaching is an important portion of the OHSU and Doernbecher Children’s Hospital missions, you will be responsible for collaborating with and teaching students and trainees. The Advanced Practice Provider is a faculty member credentialed and privileged to serve as a Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner. This role is aligned with the OHSU Dept of Pediatrics mission of clinical, advocacy, research, and educational excellence.
