As a Pediatric Oncology Nurse in the Infusion Center, you will join a fast-paced, tight-knit team on the frontlines of patient care. The ACU operates as an outpatient infusion center during the day, providing chemotherapy, blood products, and other services. After hours, the role involves providing acute care to patients needing immediate attention. This unique ACU environment presents daily challenges and rewards, upholding St. Jude's high standards of patient care. Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing required
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) required
  • BSN required
  • Completion of 18 months of clinical nursing experience
  • St. Jude or other RN experience required
  • Intermediate pediatric assessment, critical thinking, and pain assessment skills
  • Some experience in pediatric or oncology nursing
  • Working knowledge of research protocols
  • Strong knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to any age-related needs of the patients served on the assigned unit
  • Strong knowledge of the principles of growth and development for all ages served
  • Strong ability to assess and interpret age specific data about the patient’s status
  • Strong clinical nursing, interpersonal, and patient education skills
  • Proven performance in earlier role
  • Must possess a current Tennessee State Board of Nursing license if primary residence is Tennessee or a Nurse Licensure non-Compact state
  • Must possess a current State Board of Nursing license in the state of primary residence if the state is a Nurse Licensure Compact state

Nice To Haves

  • Pediatric Advance Life Support (PALS), OR Advanced Cardiac Life Support ACLS, preferred as applicable
  • Certified Pediatric Hematology Oncology Nurse (CPHON) preferred
  • Oncology Certified Nurse (OCN) preferred

Responsibilities

  • Providing chemotherapy, blood products, and other services as necessary (during day operations)
  • Provide acute care to patients who need immediate attention (after hours)
