Pediatric Oncology Nurse II: ICU nights
About The Position

The Intensive Care Unit (ICU) at St. Jude is an 8-bed unit that provides critical support with 1:1 nursing care and has a dedicated team of Intensivists and Advanced Practice Providers who offer 24/7 critical care. Nurses in the ICU are trained to support patients who require ventilation, renal replacement therapy, and hemodynamic support, blending critical thinking with a research approach to pediatric hematology/oncology illnesses. This is a night shift position seeking nurses with at least one year of experience.
Requirements
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing
- Basic Life Support (BLS)
- BSN required with completion of 18 months of clinical nursing experience
- St. Jude or other RN experience
- Intermediate pediatric assessment, critical thinking, and pain assessment skills
- Some experience in pediatric or oncology nursing
- Working knowledge of research protocols
- Strong knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to any age-related needs of the patients served on the assigned unit
- Strong knowledge of the principles of growth and development for all ages served
- Strong ability to assess and interpret age specific data about the patient’s status
- Strong clinical nursing, interpersonal, and patient education skills
- Proven performance in earlier role
- Must possess a current Tennessee State Board of Nursing license if primary residence is Tennessee or a Nurse Licensure non-Compact state
- Must possess a current State Board of Nursing license in the state of primary residence if the state is a Nurse Licensure Compact state
Nice To Haves
- Pediatric Advance Life Support (PALS), OR Advanced Cardiac Life Support ACLS, preferred as applicable
- Certified Pediatric Hematology Oncology Nurse (CPHON) preferred
- Oncology Certified Nurse (OCN) preferred
