About The Position

This position is responsible for providing direct therapeutic services to children for acquisition and mastery of functional skills in order to reduce or overcome limitations resulting from disabilities or developmental delays. This position evaluates, assesses, develops, and carries out treatment plans, documents progress and required processes, educates families and community partners and collaborates with physicians and other care providers. Services are clinic-based in both individual and group settings. This position is a member of the Preschool Inclusion Team that supports both Brighton Preschool locations.

Requirements

  • Degreed and current Texas Licensure in occupational therapy.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, Outlook, and Access as well as Adobe.

  • Prior experience in ECI, Special Education, Early Childhood Education, or a family-centered service organization.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluates; scores standardized test to determine appropriate therapy plan.
  • Develops an appropriate Plan of Care based on evaluation/assessment results, ensuring goals focus on improving, adapting, restoring, or maintaining functions impaired by illness, injury, loss, congenital abnormality, developmental delay, or chronic conditions.
  • Provides education and training of the client’s caregivers by developing and instructing them in a home treatment program to promote effective carryover of the therapy program and management of safety issues.
  • Documents all services within the required timelines and in compliance with documentation standards set by the agency, Medicaid and private insurance rules and regulations.
  • Submits all evaluation documentation including evaluation tool to the appropriate personnel in accordance with program deadlines.
  • Complete weekly reporting in Objective Management System (OMS).
  • Provides individualized, direct therapy services to children with disabilities or developmental delays, strictly adhering to the established Plan of Care.
  • Conducts focused therapy sessions in individual settings to maximize client progress.
  • Ensures the completion of all authorized therapy visits or units within the authorization timeframe, proactively managing scheduling and providing necessary make-up sessions for missed appointments.
  • Equips families and caregivers with effective strategies to empower them to enhance the child's community participation.
  • Maintains comprehensive, accurate, and timely documentation of all services rendered, ensuring full compliance with agency policies, Medicaid guidelines, and private insurance standards and regulations.
  • Plays a key role in fostering inclusive preschool environments by collaborating throughout the MTSS-driven enrollment process.
  • Develops and maintains essential Preschool Inclusion Plans (PIPs) and Classroom Inclusion Plans (CIPs) in strong partnership with the Preschool Inclusion Team, teachers, and leadership.
  • Empowers preschool teachers to effectively address individual student needs through support in curriculum adaptation.
  • Enhances individualized learning by providing coaching and modeling in the use of adaptive materials.
  • Actively engages in staff meetings, relevant professional development, and family meetings.
  • Contributes expertise to the development of professional development content for Brighton Staff and presentations focused on inclusion for Inclusion Conferences.
  • Participates in monthly team meetings, discipline, agency, and staffing meetings to ensure family and child outcomes are met and required information is secured.
  • Other duties to support the delivery and quality of services that are provided to Brighton families.
