Responsibilities

  • Deliver excellent family-centered patient care, supporting functional goals and needs of the patient and their family.
  • Perform assessments and interpretation of evaluations and test results.
  • Determine occupational therapy treatment plans in consultation with physicians or by prescription.
  • Carry out treatment plans supporting functional improvement across the lifespan.
  • Administer manual exercises and instruct patients in performing physical activities.
  • Administer occupational therapy treatment and direct treatments given by aides, technicians, and assistants.
  • Complete discharge planning by consulting with healthcare professionals and contributing to patient care conferences.
  • Design home exercise programs and instruct patients, families, and caregivers.
  • Recommend and/or provide assistive equipment and follow-up programs.
  • Document patient care services according to the law.
  • Maintain patient confidence and clinic operations by keeping information confidential.
  • Maintain a safe and clean working environment.
  • Protect patients and employees by adhering to infection-control policies and protocols.
  • Ensure operation of equipment by completing preventive maintenance and troubleshooting.
  • Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending workshops, reviewing publications, and participating in professional societies.
  • Develop occupational therapy staff by providing information and conducting in-service training.
  • Comply with federal, state, and local legal and professional requirements.
  • Contribute to team effort by accomplishing related results.
  • Participate effectively as a member of the IEP team, providing services in accordance with the written IEP.
