About The Position

The Midwest Children's Resource Center (MCRC) provides medical diagnosis, psychological assessment, and treatment for children and their families affected by physical abuse, sexual abuse, or neglect. They offer 24/7 telephone consultation for child protection, law enforcement agencies, physicians, therapists, attorneys, and concerned parents. The center also provides training, internships, and fellowships for professionals interested in medical evaluation, interviewing children, psychological assessment, and treating abused children. This position provides specialized medical consultation, evaluation, and care for children and adolescents with concerns related to child maltreatment. Key responsibilities include providing phone consultation and triage, conducting medical evaluations for suspected victims of child maltreatment, collecting physical evidence in acute cases of sexual assault or abuse, providing medical evaluations and ongoing care for adolescents in youth shelter settings, coordinating care with a multidisciplinary team, and occasionally providing testimony in legal proceedings.

Requirements

  • Master's degree from an accredited college.
  • Graduate of an accredited Nurse Practitioner Program.
  • Current Minnesota RN/APRN Licensure.
  • Current Nurse Practitioner certification in specialty area.
  • Good computer skills.

Nice To Haves

  • 1-5 years experience preferred.
  • Training will be provided for the assessment of child physical and sexual abuse.

Responsibilities

  • Providing phone consultation and triage for caregivers, medical providers, and community professionals.
  • Conducting medical evaluations, including video-recorded histories, for suspected victims of child maltreatment.
  • Collecting physical evidence in acute cases of sexual assault or abuse involving children and adolescents.
  • Providing medical evaluations and ongoing care for adolescents in youth shelter settings.
  • Coordinating care with a multidisciplinary team.
  • Occasionally providing testimony in legal proceedings.
