About The Position

Children’s Minnesota is seeking a Nurse Practitioner to join their pre-surgical team within the Pre-Procedure Assessment Center. This team works with procedural patients and their families prior to hospital arrival to ensure comprehensive preparation for surgery. The pre-surgical team is led by Advanced Practice Providers (APPs) who care for surgical patients during their preoperative preparation and coordination for upcoming surgery. The team covers numerous surgical specialties and partners closely with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and the pre-surgical team to offer high-quality, specialized care. The pre-surgical nurse practitioner role involves caring for patients before surgical procedures, including conducting comprehensive assessments and physicals, managing pre-operative testing, educating patients, and care coordination. Key duties include collaborating with the surgical team, optimizing patient readiness, managing pre-medication needs, and ensuring a smooth transition of care on the day of surgery. This position involves rotating coverage at surgery centers in St. Paul, Minneapolis, and Minnetonka.

Requirements

  • Current MN RN/APRN License.
  • Graduate of an accredited Pediatric Nurse Practitioner Program.
  • Master’s Degree required.
  • Nationally Board Certified as a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner with either the Pediatric Nursing Certification Board (PNCB) or American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC).
  • Current BLS certification required.
  • Successful completion of an occupational health assessment, drug screen, background investigation, and compliance with the U.S. Government Form I-9, Employment Eligibility Verification.
