About The Position
The Licensed Vocational Nurse is responsible for providing direct patient care under the supervision of a registered nurse. Responsibilities include following the plan of care, providing treatments, and working collaboratively with the members of the team to help meet positive patient care outcomes.
Requirements
- Graduate of an accredited vocational nursing program.
- Currently licensed as a licensed vocational nurse in the State of Texas.
- Complies with accepted professional standards and practice.
- Ability to demonstrate assessment and skills in caring for a pediatric client for Pediatric RN Supervisor.
- Knowledge or experience with gastric button feeding and care.
- Knowledge or experience with ventilators, tracheostomy and care.
- Demonstrates good verbal and written communication, and organization skills.
- Possesses and maintains current CPR certification.
Nice To Haves
- Three years nursing experience preferred.
- Pediatric Home Health experience is preferred.
Responsibilities
- Furnishes services in accordance with agency policies
- Prepares clinical and progress notes
- Prepares equipment and materials for treatments observing aseptic techniques as required
- Assists the patient, parent, family in learning appropriate self-care techniques as required
- Provides services within agency service area as scheduled
- Informs the Pediatric RN Supervisor of changes in the patient’s condition, immediately
- Counsels the patient, parent in meeting nursing and related needs
- Participates in in-service programs
- Receives orders from physician or his representative according to policy
- Orientation of co-workers
- Other assigned duties as desired by the DCS and Director of Pediatric Operations
