About The Position

Ascension Illinois is seeking a Board Certified/Board Eligible Pediatric Critical Care Physician for their Pediatric Critical Care Department at Ascension St. Alexius Medical Center in Hoffman Estates, IL. This PRN (as-needed) position involves joining three experienced physicians in a busy medical group practice, providing 24/7 Pediatric Intensivist service. The facility features a Level III NICU/PICU with 8 PICU beds, 24 Pediatric beds, 30 Pediatric Nursery beds, a 24/7 Neonatology Service, a NICU with 30 beds and 12 swing beds, Pediatric Hospitalist support, a Pediatric ER, and access to several Pediatric sub-specialists. Requirements

  • Board Certified/Board Eligible Pediatric Critical Care Physician
  • Physician MD/DO credentialed from the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date
  • Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathy (DO) required

Nice To Haves

  • Advanced Life Support preferred. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.

Responsibilities

  • Provide medical services to patients in an assigned area.
  • Evaluate and treat patients with appropriate medical diagnostic and treatment skills.
  • Coordinate discharge planning with case management.
  • Recommend, participate in, and work to ensure the success of efforts to improve cost effectiveness and quality of care provided to patients.
  • Accept patient referrals from other physicians.
  • Act as admitting, attending and/or consulting physician for patients who require hospitalization for primary medical diagnoses, depending on needs of patients, medical staff and hospital.
  • Participates in academic programs (eg medical education and research) as requested.
  • Provide appropriate documentation that meets insurance company requirements; appeal all denials in a timely manner.
  • Participate in inpatient and outpatient consultation for specialty, which may include on call schedules.
