About The Position

Eastern Shawnee Staffing Solutions (ESSS), in partnership with the Indian Health Service (IHS), is seeking two experienced Pediatric Inpatient Registered Nurses (RNs) to join the healthcare team at Northern Navajo Medical Center (NNMC) in Shiprock, New Mexico. This long-term contract offers the opportunity to provide compassionate, high-quality care to pediatric patients while serving Native American communities in a mission-driven healthcare environment. This is a fully onsite position in a hospital setting serving the pediatric patient population. The federal credentialing process may take up to 90 days before the start date. Additional duties and responsibilities may be assigned as needed, and candidates should be adaptable and willing to support evolving clinical and operational needs.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited Registered Nursing program (ADN or BSN required)
  • Active, unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license in any U.S. state or territory
  • Minimum of 2–3 years of RN experience
  • Minimum of 2 years of recent inpatient pediatric nursing experience required
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required
  • Current Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification required
  • Current Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification required
  • Experience with electronic health record (EHR) systems required
  • Strong clinical assessment, critical thinking, communication, organizational, and time management skills
  • Required immunizations must be current
  • Must be a U.S. citizen residing primarily in the United States
  • Must be able to successfully obtain and maintain a federal security clearance

Nice To Haves

  • Previous Indian Health Service (IHS) or Tribal healthcare experience preferred
  • Experience in a rural or Critical Access Hospital preferred
  • Previous experience with Indian Health Service (IHS), Tribal Health, or underserved populations preferred

Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive nursing care to hospitalized pediatric patients.
  • Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate individualized patient care plans.
  • Administer medications, IV therapies, blood products, and other prescribed treatments.
  • Monitor patient conditions and promptly communicate changes to providers.
  • Perform comprehensive pediatric assessments and respond to changes in patient status.
  • Educate patients and families regarding diagnoses, medications, treatments, and discharge planning.
  • Collaborate with physicians and the interdisciplinary healthcare team to coordinate patient care.
  • Maintain accurate and timely electronic health record (EHR) documentation.
  • Follow infection prevention, patient safety, and quality improvement standards.
  • May float to other inpatient units as needed based on patient care requirements.
