The Pediatric Infusion Clinic Pharmacist at Levine Children's Hospital is responsible for overseeing pharmaceutical care within the clinic. This includes retrieving and evaluating biomedical literature, designing medication therapy regimens, and using effective patient education techniques to counsel patients and caregivers. The role involves designing, recommending, monitoring, and evaluating patient-specific pharmacotherapeutic regimens, implementing recommendations, and documenting care. The pharmacist will review and interpret medication orders, participate in medical emergencies, and actively support medication safety and quality improvement activities. They will also perform quality assurance, collaborate with the healthcare team on formulary adherence and medication-use processes, and assist in acquiring necessary medications. Practice must comply with organizational policies, procedures, and local, state, and federal regulations. Additionally, the pharmacist will prepare, dispense, and oversee the storage and handling of medications. This role also includes serving as a preceptor for pharmacy students, residents, and healthcare learners, and mentoring, orienting, training, and assisting with performance evaluations of pharmacy teammates. The pharmacist will direct and check the accuracy of the pharmacy support team to ensure safe and efficient workflows and regulatory compliance. The position requires the ability to provide age-appropriate care, demonstrating knowledge of growth and development across the lifespan and assessing patient needs based on age-specific requirements.
