About The Position

MaineGeneral Medical Center is seeking a board-certified or board-eligible Pediatric Hospitalist to join their dynamic team. This role involves providing care for newborns (including well-newborns, Level II NICU, and delivery attendance), pediatric inpatients, and emergency department consults. The ideal candidate will be comfortable with neonatal resuscitation, newborn care, and stabilization of critically ill newborns awaiting transfer. The position offers opportunities to work with established teams, provide evidence-based care, and educate medical learners. Shifts are available in 12 or 24-hour durations. The physician will work independently with in-house support from various specialties and phone support from children's hospitals. Teaching responsibilities include supervising 1-2 learners. The average daily census is 4-6 patients.

Requirements

  • Board certified or board eligible in pediatrics.
  • Comfortable with neonatal resuscitation, newborn care and stabilization of critically ill newborns while awaiting transfer to a tertiary care center.
  • Doctor of Medicine (MD) - American Board of Medical Specialties (ABMS) or Doctor of Osteopathic (DO) - American Board of Medical Specialties (ABMS) or Doctor of Podiatric Medicine (DPM) - Maine State Board of Licensure of Podiatric Medicine.

Responsibilities

  • Provide medical services to patients in an assigned area.
  • Care for newborns, including well-newborns, Level II NICU, and delivery attendance.
  • Provide care for pediatric inpatients.
  • Perform emergency department consults.

  • Provide up-to-date, evidence-based care.
  • Educate medical learners.
  • Supervise 1-2 learners (family medicine residents and medical students) on weekdays.
