About The Position

Join the dedicated team at the Texas Children’s Cancer and Hematology Center. The physician provides outpatient and inpatient care for pediatric hematology and oncology patients, including clinic and infusion-room oversight, inpatient rounds, and on-call coverage. The role includes performing indicated procedures and maintaining regulatory compliance with Children’s Oncology Group (COG) and institutional research study guidelines. Academic appointment and rank at Baylor College of Medicine will be commensurate with the candidate’s qualifications and experience.

Requirements

• MD or DO degree, or equivalent.
• Completion of an ACGME-accredited residency in pediatrics.
• Board certification in pediatrics by the American Board of Pediatrics or American Osteopathic Board of Pediatrics.
• Board eligibility or board certification in Pediatric Hematology/Oncology by the American Board of Pediatrics.
• Five years of post-fellowship clinical experience.
• Eligibility for an unrestricted Texas medical license.

Responsibilities

• Provide outpatient and inpatient care for pediatric hematology and oncology patients.
• Conduct outpatient clinic duties, oversee infusion-room services, and manage calls from clinic staff, physicians, and families throughout the day.
• Provide inpatient care and on-call coverage, including daily rounds, completing daily work, responding to evening calls from hospital staff, and coming in at night for acute needs as necessary.
• Perform procedures such as bone marrow aspiration and lumbar puncture when indicated in outpatient and inpatient settings.
• Maintain and complete regulatory requirements to remain compliant with COG and institutional research study guidelines.
