About The Position

The Pediatric and Fetal Cardiac Sonographer performs and analyzes pediatric and adult congenital echocardiograms. The role requires extensive knowledge of cardiac anatomy and physiology to help ascertain diagnoses of complex congenital heart disease in pediatric and adult congenital patients. The sonographer performs complex diagnostic examinations and discusses findings with the pediatric cardiologist, while using departmental programs and databases in accordance with departmental standards. The position is based at MultiCare Yakima Memorial Hospital in Yakima, Washington. It is listed as 1.0 FTE, with a Monday–Friday schedule from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Requirements

Satisfactory completion of a formal ultrasound technology training program.
Registration with the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers or Cardiovascular Credentialing International in adult/pediatric credentials within 12 months from the date of hire or position.
Knowledge of complex congenital heart defects and surgical repairs.
BLS certification.

Nice To Haves

Pediatric Echo (PE) and/or Fetal Echo (FE) credential strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

Perform routine and urgent echocardiography procedures according to laboratory protocols using Philips and GE ultrasound machines.
Explain procedures to patients to provide comfort and reassurance.
Maintain patient records, exam data, and procedure observations.
Review studies and create preliminary reports for interpreting physicians.
Perform and analyze pediatric and adult congenital echocardiograms, and discuss findings with the pediatric cardiologist.
Use departmental programs and databases in accordance with departmental standards.
