About The Position

Children’s Minnesota is seeking board-certified or board-eligible Pediatric Dermatologists to build its pediatric dermatology program. The ideal candidate will have specialized training and experience in the diagnosis and treatment of a wide range of dermatological conditions affecting infants, children, and adolescents. This role involves providing compassionate, evidence-based care in an outpatient clinic setting, with opportunities for inpatient consultation, teaching, and research. There are ample opportunities to perform pediatric dermatologic surgery at our freestanding pediatric ambulatory surgery center or at either of our hospital locations.

Requirements

  • Board-certified or board-eligible Pediatric Dermatologists
  • Specialized training and experience in the diagnosis and treatment of a wide range of dermatological conditions affecting infants, children, and adolescents.
  • Medical Licensure in the State of Minnesota or the ability to obtain one required.
  • Ability to be successfully credentialed by both Hospital and 3rd Party Payers.
  • M.D., D.O. or equivalent degree from another country.
  • Board BE/BC in Pediatrics from the American Board of Pediatrics.
  • Board BE/BC in subspecialty, if applicable.
  • Completion of an ACGME Accredited Fellowship program, per subspecialty requirements.
  • Clinical competency and expertise in caring for hospitalized children.
  • Strong understanding of examination methodologies and diagnostics.
  • Knowledge of common medication, side effects and contraindications.
  • In-depth knowledge of legal medical guidelines and medicine best practices.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Diagnose and treat a comprehensive range of pediatric dermatological conditions, including but not limited to: atopic dermatitis, psoriasis, acne, vascular anomalies, genetic skin disorders, and cutaneous infections.
  • Perform diagnostic procedures.
  • Develop and implement individualized treatment plans, including topical, oral, and light-based therapies.
  • Conduct minor dermatologic procedures, such as cryosurgery, laser therapy, and minor excisions.
  • Provide expert consultation for hospitalized patients as needed.
  • Educate patients and their families on diagnoses, treatment options, and long-term management strategies in a clear, sensitive, and age-appropriate manner.
  • Foster a trusting and supportive environment for young patients and their caregivers.
  • Work closely with a multidisciplinary team, including pediatricians, pediatric specialists (e.g., geneticists, hematologists/oncologists, rheumatologists), and nurses.
  • Participate in departmental meetings, case conferences, and quality improvement initiatives.
  • Supervise and mentor residents and medical students rotating through the dermatology clinic.
  • Engage in clinical research, publish findings, and present at national and international conferences.
  • Stay current with the latest advancements in pediatric dermatology through continuing medical education and professional development.
