About The Position

Loyola Medicine, a member of Trinity Health, is a nationally ranked academic, quaternary care system based in Chicago's western suburbs. Loyola Medicine Transport is based at Loyola University Medical Center and is part of a three-hospital system including Loyola University Medical Center, Gottlieb Memorial Hospital, and MacNeal Hospital. The Pediatric Clinical Pharmacist is responsible for providing comprehensive pharmaceutical care to neonatal, pediatric, and adolescent patients, working collaboratively with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to optimize medication therapy outcomes, promote safe medication use, and support evidence-based clinical practice. The pharmacist may also precept pharmacy students, residents, and new staff members, participate in clinical research, quality improvement projects, and committee activities, and maintain compliance with all regulatory, accreditation, and organizational standards. Additionally, this role provides direct patient care through medication therapy management and clinical pharmacy services, including reviewing, verifying, and monitoring medication orders for appropriateness, dosing accuracy, potential drug interactions, allergies, and therapeutic effectiveness. They actively participate in multidisciplinary rounds, develop individualized pharmacotherapy recommendations, monitor adverse drug events and medication safety concerns, and evaluate therapeutic outcomes to ensure high-quality patient care. This may include educating patients, families, caregivers, and healthcare professionals on medication therapies; supporting medication safety and quality improvement initiatives; contributing to the development and implementation of clinical guidelines, policies, and order sets; and serving as a drug information resource for the healthcare team. Must demonstrate advanced clinical expertise in pediatric pharmacotherapy, strong interdisciplinary collaboration skills, and a commitment to delivering high-quality, patient-centered care. Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Licensed Pharmacist in the State of Illinois
• Bachelor's degree in pharmacy required
• Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) or Bachelor of Pharmacy (BPharm)
• 1-2 years of previous job-related experience
• Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS)

Nice To Haves

• Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD); Board Certified Pediatric Pharmacy Specialist (BCPPS) preferred
• Residency: PGY2 Pediatric Pharmacy Practice Residency or equivalent experience preferred
