About The Position

The Pediatric Cardiology Physician will join a multidisciplinary cardiac care team at The Children's Hospital at Saint Peter's University Hospital. As a state-designated acute care children's hospital, the dedicated team of board-certified pediatric cardiologists, cardiac nurse practitioners, and cardiac technologists provides comprehensive cardiovascular services for infants, children, and young adults with congenital and acquired heart disease, arrhythmias, and electrical disorders. The center treats congenital heart defects, heart murmurs, congestive heart failure, arrhythmias, rheumatic fever, Kawasaki disease, cardiomyopathies, and valvular disorders. The Pediatric Cardiac Center provides consultative services throughout the hospital, including the Level IV NICU, PICU, and Pediatric Emergency Department, and coordinates advanced cardiology and cardiothoracic surgical services.

Requirements

  • Successful completion of an appropriate ACGME or AOA accredited residency and/or fellowship.
  • Board certification or eligibility from the appropriate specialty or subspecialty board.
  • Must qualify for Saint Peter's University Hospital Liability insurance
  • MD or DO licensed or eligible for licensure in New Jersey
  • CDS and DEA licensed or eligible for licensure

Nice To Haves

  • BLS, ACLS, PALS certification
  • Advanced echocardiography experience
  • Interest in fetal cardiology, interventional procedures, or electrophysiology

Responsibilities

  • Diagnose and manage congenital and acquired heart diseases in patients from neonatal period through young adulthood
  • Perform and interpret echocardiograms, EKGs, stress tests, Holter monitors, and fetal echocardiograms, fetal imaging
  • Perform diagnostic and interventional cardiac catheterizations as appropriate
  • Provide inpatient consultations across NICU, PICU, medical/surgical units, and Emergency Department
  • Manage outpatient cardiology clinic for chronic cardiac conditions
  • Coordinate care with pediatric cardiac surgeons and subspecialists
  • Participate in fetal cardiology program with prenatal consultations
  • Counsel families about diagnoses, treatment options, and long-term management
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary cardiac team
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives
