About The Position

This position is responsible for performing overall pre-launch planning, selection, and installation of equipment, maintenance of equipment for insuring optimal efficiency, and engineering projects for design change and major refurbishment/renovation. The role involves managing and leading both the Production Engineering and PE staff, including training, development, performance reviews, disciplinary issues, and daily supervision to maximize efficient productivity. The Assistant Manager will also help set departmental objectives/KPIs, review ongoing performance of direct reports, and communicate KPIs from the strategic annual plan. Ensuring the facility complies with environmental requirements and maintaining a safe work environment are also key responsibilities.

  • Telephone Communications – Able to communicate verbally using a telephone.
  • Multitasking – Able to manage multiple work projects simultaneously.
  • Occasionally travels by automotive and or plane.
  • Must be able to wear required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) when on the shop floor, which includes Head Protection, hearing protection; safety eye protection, gloves, sleeves and steel-toed safety shoes, High Visibility Vest.

Responsibilities

  • Performing overall pre-launch planning, selection, and installation of equipment.
  • Maintenance of equipment for insuring optimal efficiency.
  • Engineering projects for design change and major refurbishment/renovation.
  • Overall improvement of productivity, efficiency and quality through the optimal utilization and preventative maintenance of all production equipment of the plant.
  • Complete general benchmarking and monitor daily production process on all plant equipment and jigs.
  • Directs troubleshooting activity of all engineering staff in the programming, equipment, and production-related issues as necessary.
  • Designs and develops production equipment and jigs.
  • Project Manager during the implementation of new assignments and coordinates with internal departments to ensure projects are complete within timeframe and budget.
  • Establishes and manages training program for PE staff.
  • Establishes and regulates process conditions, including wire feed speed, amperage, polarity, assist gas, and type of weld rod.
  • Analyzes blueprints, instructions, or sample parts to confirm dimensions and tolerances of finished work-piece, the workflow of operations, and machine setup requirements are in an acceptable condition.
  • Ensure Company and Departmental KPIs are met by working to the overall plan, including management and reporting.
  • Communicate with vendors according to the needs of the department as well as completion of projects.
  • Implement, maintain applicable management system, processes, monitors and continually improve its results.
  • Ensures that the facility is in compliance with federal, state and local environmental requirements.
  • Must be able to identify and provide control plan for applicable compliance obligations.
  • Must ensure the safety of work assignments and workspaces, assign safety training related to hazards, provide safety procedures and equipment, correct identified hazards (where practicable). Look into the causes of incidents and take action to prevent similar incidents and take action to prevent similar incidents and discuss safety in regular meetings and performance reviews.
  • Developing necessary documents for the customer’s required documents.
  • Manage and lead both the Production Engineering and, including training, development, performance reviews, disciplinary issues, and daily supervision with the Manager to maximize efficient productivity.
  • Help set departmental objectives/KPIs and review assess ongoing performance of direct reports.
  • Help communicate KPIs from the strategic annual plan so that each team member is aware.
  • Ensure that the function operates in accordance with any health, safety, and environmental policies and procedures to ensure the safety and the well-being of staff, visitors, and vendors.
