About The Position

The PDM Administrator is responsible for the day-to-day administration, maintenance, and continuous improvement of the company’s Product Data Management (PDM) environment, which is used to control engineering documents, CAD files, release packages, and related technical information. This role supports the control, organization, release, and retrieval of engineering-controlled information, including CAD models, drawings, engineering documents, calculations, release packages, and other technical deliverables. The position serves as a key support function for the multidisciplinary engineering team by maintaining PDM workflows, permissions, folder structures, data cards, templates, and release processes. The PDM Administrator also helps improve engineering data management practices as the organization builds a more mature configuration management and document control system.

Requirements

  • Experience administering, configuring, or supporting PDM or a similar engineering data/document management system.
  • Experience with CAD file management, engineering document control, revision control, and release workflows.
  • Familiarity with engineering configuration management principles and controlled technical information.
  • Experience supporting engineering users in a design, manufacturing, R&D, or technical project environment.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to troubleshoot user issues and support multidisciplinary technical teams.
  • Clear communication skills and ability to explain PDM processes to users with varying levels of experience.
  • U.S. Citizenship
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a DOE Q-Clearance
  • Ongoing eligibility for nuclear site access

Nice To Haves

  • SolidWorks PDM Professional administration experience.
  • Experience with CAD, drawing release practices, and model-based engineering workflows.
  • Experience supporting manufacturing release workflows from CAD/PDM systems.
  • Experience with engineering numbering systems, metadata/data cards, templates, and vault architecture.
  • Experience in a regulated, nuclear, aerospace, defense, medical device, or other configuration-controlled environment.
  • Experience with data migration, vault cleanup, archive/export processes, or integration with downstream records/configuration systems.
  • Basic familiarity with SQL, scripting, automation, or PDM reporting tools.

Responsibilities

  • Administer and maintain the PDM vault, including users, groups, permissions, workflows, templates, file cards, data cards, and folder structures.
  • Support proper control of engineering information through check-in/check-out practices, version history, revision control, and release states.
  • Troubleshoot PDM user issues and provide timely support to engineers, designers, manufacturing personnel, and other technical users.
  • Maintain PDM structure in alignment with engineering standards, project/system organization, and document numbering practices.
  • Support vault cleanup, data consistency checks, archive/export activities, and other PDM maintenance tasks.
  • Maintain and improve PDM workflows for engineering review, approval, release, manufacturing handoff, change control, and archive/export.
  • Help ensure released models, drawings, documents, and release packages are complete, traceable, and available to the appropriate users.
  • Support development of PDM-based release processes for manufacturing, including model-based release packages and quantity-based manufacturing requests.
  • Assist with implementation of data card fields, metadata requirements, file naming practices, and controlled document attributes.
  • Identify workflow gaps or inefficiencies and recommend practical improvements that reduce rework and improve engineering execution.
  • Support the organization, control, and retrieval of all engineering-controlled information within PDM.
  • Assist with development of the broader engineering configuration and data management system.
  • Help align PDM practices with engineering document control, configuration management, manufacturing release, and future official records systems.
  • Support migration or transfer of released engineering information from PDM to downstream records or configuration management systems, as required.
  • Participate in development and maintenance of engineering standards related to PDM use, file control, numbering, release packages, and configuration management.
  • Train and support PDM users on workflows, file management expectations, release practices, and document control requirements.
  • Develop or maintain user guides, quick-reference instructions, and basic training materials.
  • Promote consistent use of PDM across the engineering organization.
  • Work with engineering leadership and discipline leads to improve user compliance, resolve recurring issues, and strengthen data integrity.
  • Serve as a senior technical resource for test engineering practices, test documentation, and execution discipline.
  • Help establish scalable test engineering processes, templates, expectations, and best practices suitable for an R&D and first-of-a-kind equipment environment.
  • Mentor engineers and technicians involved in test planning, execution, data review, and troubleshooting.
  • Support development of the test engineering function with the potential to grow into future people leadership responsibilities.
