About The Position

SLB is seeking a proactive and technically driven PDC Drill Bit Product Development Engineer to join our team in Calgary, Alberta. In this role, you will support the development and optimization of PDC drill bit technology by designing technical solutions, analyzing product performance, and providing engineering support throughout the service delivery process. Working closely with operations, product line teams, and subject matter experts, you will contribute to the delivery of safe, efficient, and reliable drilling solutions for our customers. We are looking for an individual who enjoys solving technical challenges, analyzing data, and driving continuous improvement. This role offers the opportunity to influence product development, support field applications, work directly with customers, and contribute to technology innovations that create value for both our customers and the business.

Requirements

  • Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Geology, or a related technical discipline.
  • Experience with PDC and roller cone drill bit design, applications, performance analysis, or product development within the drilling industry.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret operational and performance data.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate across technical and commercial teams.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Valid Class 5 driver's license with a clean driving record.
  • Ability to travel to field locations as required.
  • Must be legally authorized to work and reside in Canada without company sponsorship.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with real-time drilling data platforms such as Pason, NOV WellData, or similar systems is strongly preferred.
  • Power BI experience is considered an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Develop technical designs and engineering recommendations for drilling applications.
  • Analyze drill bit and drilling performance data to identify optimization opportunities.
  • Support the development and implementation of new technologies and drilling solutions.
  • Provide technical support throughout the service delivery process, including field visits as required.
  • Collaborate with product line, sales, operations, and technical experts to optimize job designs and product performance.
  • Support design changes resulting from operational, resource, or service quality requirements.
  • Participate in incident investigations and support corrective actions and failure analysis.
  • Capture lessons learned and recommend product and performance improvements.
  • Assist commercial teams in evaluating technical feasibility and customer opportunities.
