About The Position

The Supervisor represents Corning Hospital and Nursing Administration in their absence. This role involves a collaborative approach to staffing and scheduling, fostering a professional practice environment, and empowering nurses. The position also requires responding to emergencies, addressing employee health incidents, and maintaining knowledge of NYSDOH codes. Strong communication skills are essential for interacting with patients, families, and healthcare providers. The Supervisor will also promote service recovery, maintain confidentiality, act as a professional liaison, mentor nursing staff, and participate in continuing education and performance improvement activities.

Requirements

  • License to practice in the State of New York
  • 5 years of clinical experience in acute care setting
  • 1 year in Critical Care with demonstrated abilities in leadership and clinical roles

  • Assumes a collaborative role in staffing and scheduling of personnel, considering appropriate utilization of personnel, scope of practice, competencies, patient needs and complexity of care.

  • Responds and assumes appropriate role in emergency codes/crisis intervention.
  • Addresses Employee Health incidents appropriately.

  • Communicates with patient, family and healthcare providers regarding patient care, demonstrating strong communication skills.
  • Effectively promotes service‐recovery.
  • Maintains confidentiality while serving as a professional liaison with the community.
  • Functions as a mentor for development of nursing staff.
  • Participates in professional continuing education programs.
  • Participates in nursing committees, performance improvement activities and initiatives.
