About The Position

This is a Full-Time, Day Shift position for a PCU RN. The role involves assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating the nursing care of all patients in the Patient Care Unit. The RN is responsible for ensuring safe and efficient care by providing direct hands-on care and supervising Patient Care Technicians (PCTs) and other supportive staff. Key aspects of the role include patient and family education, care coordination with the interdisciplinary team, discharge planning, patient advocacy aligned with the hospital's mission, ethical conduct, adherence to policies, maintaining educational requirements, and compliance with the Nurse Practice Act.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an approved school of nursing.
  • Current/unencumbered Registered Nurse license in the State of North Carolina or another compact state.
  • BLS/CPR certification required.
  • At least 2 years of nursing experience in the acute care/inpatient hospital setting.

Responsibilities

  • Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate nursing care for patients in the Patient Care Unit.
  • Provide direct hands-on care and supervise PCTs and supportive staff.
  • Participate in patient and family education.
  • Coordinate care planning with the interdisciplinary team.
  • Anticipate discharge needs and participate in active discharge planning.
  • Act as a patient advocate, focusing on the hospital's mission.
  • Demonstrate ethical and appropriate behavior.
  • Adhere to all policies and procedures.
  • Maintain all educational requirements.
  • Follow the Nurse Practice Act.
  • Keep all required education/certifications up to date.
  • Demonstrate teamwork, peer-to-peer accountability, independent problem solving, critical thinking, time management, and appropriate clinical prioritization.
  • Document and practice according to facility policy, meeting current documentation standards, metrics, and quality expectations.
  • Elevate concerns to the charge nurse or nurse manager as appropriate.
  • Report problems through the chain of command.
  • Complete required education for the Hip & Knee Replacement (HKRPC) as required per policy.
