About The Position

PCTs at Scotland Memorial Hospital in the NICU department are responsible for performing routine personal care and assisting patients with activities of daily living. This includes aiding with ambulation, turning, positioning, and transfers. They also perform special procedures as assigned, document care provided, observe infection control measures, and maintain reports and records. PCTs follow patient safety guidelines and are responsible for their own professional growth and maintaining a clean work area. They must demonstrate age-specific competency for neonatal, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients.

Responsibilities

Performs routine personal care and assists with activities of daily living for patients.
Assists patients with body mechanics such as: ambulation, turning, positioning, transfer to wheelchairs/stretchers, and assists with range of motion.
Performs special procedures as assigned and notifies the nurse of any abnormal findings.
Documents nursing assistant care provided to patients according to scope and nursing policy and procedure.
Observes infection control measures.
Performs clerical duties in maintaining reports and records of the patient care unit.
Performs other duties delegated by licensed nurse.
Follows patient safety guidelines (for example, patient identifiers, labeling specimens at the bedside, etc.).
Admits patients and assists in completing and recording admission data as applicable within scope and nursing policy and procedure.
Demonstrates age-specific competency for Neonatal/Infant, Pediatrics, Adolescence, Young Adult/Adult, Adult/Middle-Aged, and Geriatric patients.
Responsible for self growth and education to maintain competence.
Maintains a clean, neat, orderly working area.
Performs other related duties as necessary or required.
