About The Position

PCT (Patient Care Technician) at Scotland Memorial Hospital - Nursing: Med Surg 2E. This is a full-time position on the 3rd shift. The role involves performing routine personal care, assisting with activities of daily living, and supporting patient mobility and transfers. The PCT will also perform special procedures, document care provided, observe infection control measures, and assist with clerical duties related to patient care unit reports and records. The position requires adherence to patient safety guidelines and involves admitting patients and recording admission data. A key aspect of the role is demonstrating age-specific competency, understanding human growth and development across all life spans, and providing appropriate care for neonatal, pediatric, adolescent, adult, middle-aged, and geriatric patients. The PCT is responsible for self-growth and education to maintain competence, maintaining a clean and orderly work area, and performing other related duties as necessary or required.

Requirements

  • Current North Carolina CNA listing
  • BLS American Heart certification
  • Aegis certification
  • 1 Year Cna Experience
  • High School Diploma Or Equivalent

Responsibilities

  • Performs routine personal care and assists with activities of daily living for patients.
  • Assists patients with body mechanics such as: ambulation, turning, positioning, transfer to wheelchairs/stretchers, and assists with range of motion.
  • Performs special procedures as assigned and notifies the nurse of any abnormal findings.
  • Documents nursing assistant care provided to patients according to scope and nursing policy and procedure.
  • Observes infection control measures.
  • Performs clerical duties in maintaining reports and records of the patient care unit.
  • Performs other duties delegated by licensed nurse.
  • Follows patient safety guidelines (for example, patient identifiers, labeling specimens at the bedside, etc.).
  • Admits patients and assists in completing and recording admission data as applicable within scope and nursing policy and procedure.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of human growth and development through the life span of the patient and the ability to meet the needs of and provide care for these patients across various age categories.
  • Responsible for self growth and education to maintain competence.
  • Maintains a clean, neat, orderly working area.
  • Performs other related duties as necessary or required.
