Functions as part of the dialysis health care team in providing safe and effective dialysis therapy for patients under the direct supervision of a licensed nurse. Responsible for the setup and operation of hemodialysis machines and assisting in maintaining a safe and clean environment. Supports the organization's commitment to the Quality Enhancement Program (QEP) and CQI Activities, including patient satisfaction and process improvement. This role involves direct patient care, including patient education, monitoring treatments, and ensuring patient safety and comfort. Additionally, the PCT III Preceptor plays a crucial role in staff development by assisting in recruitment, orientation, and training of new clinical staff, functioning as a preceptor, and conducting competency evaluations. The position also emphasizes maintaining environmental integrity, accurate record-keeping, and adherence to infection control practices. A significant part of the role includes supporting patients in the Transitional Care Unit through their initial dialysis period and educating them on treatment options.
