PCP - DHP Design Engineer

About The Position

This role involves providing technical support for PCP and DHP product lines, reviewing product designs for compliance with engineering principles, company standards, customer contract requirements, and industry specifications. The engineer will independently perform design evaluation assignments, review and approve design changes, specifications, and drawing releases, and support product qualification activities. Responsibilities include the technical development of parts of a job or new product introductions (NPI), generating documentation related to design practices, and interfacing with various internal departments (Engineering, Product Line Manager, Services, Sourcing, Quality, Manufacturing) and external suppliers. The role requires ensuring quality, reliability, execution time, and cost targets are met, and utilizing design tools such as parametric modeling software (Creo and Inventor), Excel, Mathcad, and in-house design calculations. Essential characteristics include the ability to understand and implement design layouts, work effectively in teams, strong detail focus, experience with PLM systems, finite element analysis training, ability to work in a global environment, strong communication and interpersonal skills, and problem-solving abilities. Bilingual English-Spanish is preferred, and willingness to travel up to 10% is required.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering (ABET Accredited) or Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering Technology (ABET Accredited) with a minimum of 4 additional years of experience in Design Engineering.
  • Modeling/drafting experience in the use of Creo (or other 3D modeling software).
  • Direct experience in either PCP or DHP design and development activities.
  • Direct experience with either API 11B or ISO 15136-1 and -2 standard compliance.

Nice To Haves

  • Bilingual English–Spanish is preferred but not required.
  • Finite element analysis training and software use (Ansys preferred).

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical support for PCP and DHP product lines.

  • Be responsible for the technical development of part of a job (requisition) or part of a new product introduction (NPI).
  • Generate appropriate documentation related to design practices (layouts, specifications, design analysis and calculations, stack-ups, design conformity, and BoMs).
  • Interface with Engineering, Product Line Manager, Services, Sourcing, Quality, Manufacturing, and interface with suppliers.
  • Coordinate and control the activities performed by external resources related to the assigned job.
  • Ensure expected results in terms of quality, reliability, execution time, and cost (within control).
  • Use design tools (like parametric modeling software (Creo and Inventor), Excel, Mathcad and in-house design calculations).
  • Other responsibilities as required.
