About The Position

The Remote Specialist, PCB Designer will be responsible for designing and creating printed circuit board (PCB) layouts for circuit card assemblies (CCAs). This involves placing components, routing traces, holding milestone reviews, and releasing drawings. The role requires ensuring all electrical and physical specifications meet design requirements, as well as manufacturing and assembly standards. The designer will also develop documentation, rework designs based on engineering changes, and create ECAD library footprints and schematic symbols.

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree and minimum 4 years of prior relevant experience OR Graduate Degree and a minimum 2 years of prior related experience OR In lieu of a degree, minimum of 8 years of prior related experience.
• Competent skills and experience with ECAD software applications and related equipment.
• Competent experience and knowledge of PCB design technologies, PCB layout techniques, electrical schematics, PCB fabrication and assembly drawings.

Nice To Haves

• Multiple years of experience in PCB design or equivalent combination of education, training, and/or experience in PCB design.
• An associate degree in Electrical Engineering Technology and/or an IPC CID certification is desired.
• A bachelor's and/or master's degree in Electrical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering is also beneficial.
• Specific experience with Siemens (formerly Mentor Graphics) Xpedition software is desired.
• Practical knowledge of industry standards, such as IPC for design (including design for manufacturability) and ASME/ANSI for documentation, is desired.
• Specific relevant IPC standards include IPC-2221, IPC-2222, IPC-6012, IPC-A-600, and IPC-A-610.
• IT experience to help with backend management and maintenance of ECAD tools such as Siemens Xpedition and EDM.

Responsibilities

• Place and route components ensuring that all electrical and physical specifications meet the specific design requirements for each PCB design.
• Ensure that all requirements for manufacturing and assembly are met.
• Develop and generate drawings and documentation to facilitate PCB fabrication and assembly.
• Rework PCB designs when engineering design changes occur and assist the design team with ideas to resolve issues.
• Perform drawing and documentation updates per the instructions of engineering change requests.
• Create component ECAD library footprints and/or schematic symbols as required for design projects.
