About The Position

The PC Support Technician will provide expert network and computer support, assisting hospital staff with computer-related issues, installing, and maintaining hardware and software, monitoring network traffic, overseeing automatic backups, and analyzing and troubleshooting problems promptly. This role involves installing, configuring, and troubleshooting software applications, including Microsoft Office Suite and various productivity tools. The technician will also provide remote desktop support using remote desktop tools and techniques to end users, supporting a range of software applications including Windows Operating System, Novell Software, Microsoft Office Software, and other approved IT applications. The position requires responding to inquiries about supported software applications, offering assistance, and contributing to the licensing of software products. Additionally, the technician will provide timely solutions to user requests for assistance with personal computer hardware issues, directing users to the best course of action for problems outside the IT department's purview. Maintaining thorough records of user assistance requests and periodically evaluating them to identify needs for improved education and training is crucial. The role also involves close collaboration with IT management, immediately alerting them to any potential problems encountered. A key aspect of the role is technology awareness and education, requiring the technician to keep abreast of quickly evolving technological trends to ensure the hospital's IT infrastructure is cutting-edge and secure, by attending educational programs, training sessions, and consulting various sources like trade periodicals and websites.

Requirements

  • Strong problem-solving skills and a passion for staying current with technology.
  • Basic understanding of networking concepts, including TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, and Wi-Fi configuration.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to assist users effectively.
  • Proven ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Experience with Windows OS and Mac OS, including installation, configuration, and troubleshooting.
  • Proficiency in troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining desktop hardware components, including CPUs, RAM, hard drives, and peripherals.

Nice To Haves

  • Relevant certifications such as CompTIA A+, Network+, or Microsoft Certified Professional (MCP) are a plus.
