About The Position

Kenowa Hills Public Schools is seeking a positive, energetic, and student-centered PBIS (Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports) Paraprofessional to support students through proactive behavioral interventions, relationship-building, academic assistance, and social-emotional learning. This position plays a critical role in creating a safe, supportive, and inclusive learning environment while helping students develop self-regulation, problem-solving skills, positive relationships, and academic success. The successful candidate will work closely with classroom teachers, intervention staff, administrators, and families to support student growth both behaviorally and academically.

Requirements

  • Meet Michigan paraprofessional qualification requirements through one of the following: Associate's Degree or higher; OR Minimum of sixty (60) earned college credit hours; OR Passing score on the ETS ParaPro Assessment.
  • Applicants who do not meet one of the above requirements are not eligible for employment in this position.
  • Ability to implement PBIS practices, behavior interventions, and de-escalation strategies
  • Ability to establish positive relationships with students while maintaining consistent expectations and boundaries
  • Ability to support classroom instruction, intervention groups, and individualized student support plans
  • Ability to communicate effectively and develop positive relationships with students, families, and staff
  • Ability to collect data and maintain documentation as assigned
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism at all times
  • Reliable and consistent attendance is an essential function of this position

Nice To Haves

  • CPI and Ukeru training required as a condition of employment (district training provided)
  • Experience working with Pre-K–12 students preferred
  • Experience supporting students with behavioral, social-emotional, and academic needs preferred

Responsibilities

  • Provide Tier 2 behavioral supports and interventions for students
  • Support implementation of PBIS systems and school-wide behavioral expectations
  • Facilitate Check-In/Check-Out systems and student goal-setting activities
  • Provide academic support through individual and small-group instruction as directed
  • Support students with social-emotional learning, self-regulation, and conflict resolution
  • Assist with implementation of behavior support plans and intervention strategies
  • Collect behavioral and academic data as assigned
  • Collaborate with teachers, counselors, interventionists, administrators, and families
  • Supervise students during lunch, recess, transitions, arrival, dismissal, specials, field trips, and school activities
  • Utilize CPI and Ukeru strategies as trained when responding to behavioral concerns
  • Build positive relationships that foster student engagement, attendance, and school success
  • Perform additional duties as assigned
