About The Position

The purpose of this job is to act as a lead for all payroll specialists. To be the expert in many areas they touch and to lead audits during processing of payroll to catch missed entries or errors on timesheets and pay checks. The position will also be responsible for the performing functions within the Employee Expense Management system.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or G.E.D. equivalent.
  • At least five (5) years of experience processing payroll for large organizations
  • Very detail-oriented individual who can work with strict deadlines and a high volume of work.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills are necessary.
  • Knowledge of the practices and procedures of payroll processing
  • Knowledge of basic bookkeeping methods
  • Knowledge of Federal and State tax laws
  • Skill in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to work independently
  • Ability to operate a personal computer
  • Ability to read and understand written materials
  • Ability to accurately perform work under deadline pressures
  • Ability to work effectively and harmoniously with others.

Nice To Haves

  • College coursework in accounting is preferred.
  • Experience processing payroll for organizations with 2500 or more employees.

Responsibilities

  • Performs audits throughout payroll processing.
  • Performs Audits throughout the pay period to bring errors and request corrections to data entry and time sheet.
  • Review FMLA and WC liaison with third party.
  • Work with 3rd party administrator to handle all problems and trouble shoot issues.
  • Audit Pension Contribution.
  • Audits pension contribution to ensure employees are contributing correctly each pay period.
  • Assist with the management of the Employee Expense Management.
  • Perform Payroll approval of all Employee Expense forms submitted in Employee Expense Management system.
  • Answer questions and reconcile the employee expenses and credit card transactions.
  • Assist with system issues and implementations.
  • Assists Business Analyst with HRIS and Payroll system issues and upgrades.
  • Ensures paying people in accordance State and Fed Law.
  • Ensures State and Federal Tax and Wage and Hour law as well as making sure County Ordinance are being followed.
  • Review policies and procedures and brings any discrepancies to the attention of the Payroll Supervisor or Director.
