About The Position

The Payroll Tax Specialist under supervision of the Payroll Tax Manager is responsible for the collection and analysis of all payroll related tax data. Key Responsibilities: Responsible for creation, setup, and monitoring of federal, state and local payroll tax setup for all Ilitch legal entities Create and audit new hire reports for tax compliance Resolve, analyze, and complete tax variances, tax notices, and tax filings Responsible for monthly, quarterly, and annual payroll tax reconciliations Collaborate with Payroll Partners, Payroll Managers and Payroll Tax Manager on negative wages, variances and finalizing tax entries for resolution Communicate with internal and external departments, agencies, and customers Collaborate with the Payroll Tax Manager on items needing resolution Assist with internal and external audits, providing materials and reports as directed Monitor and provide compliance updates on relevant tax legislation Perform other duties as assigned by the Payroll Tax Manager or Director of Payroll Responsible for ensuring all data with the payroll tax vendor is correctly set-up to ensure taxes will be filed accurately. Assist with testing and processing of all year-end tasks, including adjustments, W-2s and tax letters. Audit system to ensure tax compliance Register tax accounts with Federal, State, and Local taxing jurisdictions Monitor and maintain tax rates in Workday and Tax Vendor systems All items listed above are illustrative and not comprehensive. Requirements

  • Payroll tax statutory knowledge required
  • Legal compliance and regulation knowledge required
  • Payroll tax reconciliation knowledge
  • 2 years of payroll tax experience required
  • Strong analytical and accounting skills with an acute attention to detail
  • Ability to work accurately under deadline pressure
  • Expert level Excel – to include advanced V & X Lookups, Pivots
  • ADP Smart Compliance knowledge
  • Service and customer oriented with a collaborative attitude
  • Ability to effectively prioritize workload, multi-task and manage changes in direction
