About The Position

Shultz Huber & Associates, Certified Public Accountants, is seeking a full time or part time Payroll Systems Specialist to become a vital member of our team. The Payroll Systems Specialist is primarily responsible for accurately calculating and processing employee payrolls for our clients. This includes deductions and taxes, ensuring compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations, while maintaining detailed payroll records and generating necessary reports for clients, all within the framework of the Firm's accounting practices; essentially, they manage the payroll function for the Firm's clients, ensuring timely and correct payments to employees while adhering to legal requirements. We are a full service accounting, tax and business consulting CPA firm providing trusted business advice to guide our clients to solutions and success beyond their expectations through personalized service and advice. Our firm was founded in 1969 and has grown to nearly 100 employees with offices located in Archbold, Bryan, Defiance, Minster, Lima, St. Marys, Van Wert and Wapakoneta Ohio.

Requirements

2+ years of experience as a Payroll Systems Specialist

Responsibilities

Calculating wages and deductions: Determining gross pay based on hours worked, calculating federal and state income taxes, Social Security and Medicare withholdings, health insurance premiums, retirement contributions, and any other applicable deductions.
Processing payroll: Inputting employee time data into the payroll system, generating paychecks, and ensuring timely distribution.
Maintaining payroll records: Keeping accurate records of employee information, including earnings, deductions, and tax withholdings, to comply with regulations and for auditing purposes.
Tax filing: Preparing and submitting payroll tax returns to federal and state agencies on a timely basis.
Compliance management: Staying updated on changes in payroll laws and regulations, ensuring the firm's clients are compliant with all relevant requirements.
Client communication: Answering client questions regarding payroll issues, explaining payroll deductions, and providing support with payroll-related concerns.
Generating reports: Creating payroll reports for clients, including summaries of earnings, deductions, and taxes withheld.
Auditing payroll data: Performing regular checks on payroll calculations to identify any discrepancies or errors.
