About The Position

Aston Carter's large client in Calgary is seeking a Payroll Specialist to join their team! This individual will manage and process end-to-end payroll for a large employee population across multiple provinces. This role ensures accurate and timely payroll processing, maintains strict compliance with provincial payroll legislation and internal policies, and supports a high-volume, deadline-driven environment. The successful candidate brings hands-on multi-provincial payroll experience, particularly in British Columbia and Alberta, and provides professional support to employees, HR, and Finance on payroll-related matters.

Requirements

  • At least 2 years of payroll experience in a professional setting.
  • Proven experience processing payroll for 300 or more employees.
  • Hands-on experience administering payroll for British Columbia and Alberta.
  • Strong knowledge of payroll legislation and compliance requirements across multiple provinces.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with high accuracy and attention to detail in a deadline-driven environment.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience using Vista payroll or HR software.
  • Payroll Compliance Practitioner (PCP) designation or active progress toward obtaining this certification.
  • Experience supporting year-end payroll activities, including preparation and reconciliation of T4s.

Responsibilities

  • Process end-to-end payroll for more than 300 employees on a regular basis.
  • Administer multi-provincial payroll, including British Columbia and Alberta, in accordance with applicable legislation.
  • Ensure the accuracy of all payroll components, including earnings, deductions, benefits, and taxes.
  • Maintain, update, and audit employee payroll records to ensure data integrity.
  • Support payroll reconciliations and investigate and resolve payroll discrepancies in a timely manner.
  • Ensure full compliance with applicable provincial payroll legislation and internal company policies.
  • Respond to employee payroll inquiries promptly and professionally, providing clear explanations and support.
  • Collaborate closely with HR and Finance teams to share information, resolve issues, and support related processes.
  • Support year-end payroll activities, such as preparation and review of T4s, when required.
