About The Position

The Payroll Specialist plays a crucial role in ensuring team members are paid accurately and on time by providing responsive, friendly, and reliable customer service while proactively performing audits to validate payroll accuracy. This role supports weekly and off-cycle payroll processing, maintains accurate payroll and personal information in Workday, and partners with internal teams to resolve issues and support a positive and accurate payroll experience for team members.

Requirements

  • Strong customer service skills with the ability to communicate clearly, professionally, and empathetically when responding to payroll‑related questions
  • Ability to appropriately handle sensitive and confidential payroll and employee information with discretion and professionalism
  • High attention to detail with the ability to follow established processes and perform audits and validations accurately
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and payroll deadlines
  • Proficiency with spreadsheets and basic reporting tools
  • Ability to learn and navigate payroll systems, including maintaining payroll and personal information in Workday
  • Ability to meet weekend or after‑hours commitments as required to support payroll timelines
  • High School Diploma or General Educational Development (GED) certificate

Nice To Haves

  • Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) or Fundamental Payroll Certification (FPC) is a plus
  • Payroll, Human Resources, Finance, Accounting, or related administrative experience
  • Two or more years of payroll experience
  • Workday Payroll Experience
  • Experience supporting multi‑state U.S. payroll and Canadian payroll
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field

Responsibilities

  • Provide exceptional support to team members by responding to payroll-related questions, researching pay discrepancies, and assisting employees with maintaining accurate payroll and personal information in Workday.
  • Support weekly multi-state and Canadian payroll processing activities by performing assigned audits and reconciliations, processing on-demand and off-cycle paychecks, and ensuring payroll data accuracy, completeness, and compliance.
  • Partner with HR, Finance, Accounting, Legal, Information Technology, and Operations to coordinate payroll-related activities and address cross-functional issues that affect employee pay.
  • Administer payroll-related compliance and transactions, including deductions, banking details, garnishments, and other statutory or court-ordered requirements, ensuring timely and accurate processing.
  • Contribute to payroll operational integrity by assisting with payroll reporting, payroll system testing, upgrades, training, process validations, compliance reviews, and by handling sensitive and confidential payroll and employee information in accordance with company policies.
