About The Position

The Payroll Specialist-1099 Contractor focuses heavily on daily timekeeping validation, payroll readiness activities, and accurate execution of payroll in a high-volume, deadline driven manufacturing environment. The Payroll Specialist is also responsible for ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local tax regulations, with a particular focus on state tax requirements. The position collaborates closely with HR, finance, and external vendors to resolve discrepancies and maintain up-to-date payroll records. By maintaining meticulous attention to detail and a strong understanding of payroll systems, this role supports employee satisfaction and organizational compliance. Ultimately, the Payroll Specialist ensures that all payroll activities are executed efficiently, accurately, and in accordance with legal standards, contributing to the overall financial health of the company.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 4 years of experience in payroll processing, preferably within the manufacturing industry.
  • Strong knowledge of state tax regulations and payroll tax compliance in the United States.
  • Proficiency with ADP Workforce Now is required.
  • Experience with multi-state payroll processing, tax filings, and benefits administration.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail, accuracy, organizational skills, and confidentiality.

Nice To Haves

  • CPP or FPC credentials are a plus.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office and 365 Suites is a plus, especially Excel.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare, process, and verify weekly and bi-weekly payroll data for all employees, ensuring accuracy and timeliness in payroll disbursements.
  • Review timekeeping records for completeness and accuracy.
  • Maintain accurate employee payroll records, including new hires, terminations, and changes.
  • Calculate wages, overtime, bonuses, deductions, and adjustments.
  • Maintain payroll data within the HRIS/payroll system.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll laws and Company policies, with a focus on state tax regulations and reporting requirements.
  • Coordinate with HR and work closely with Shared Services team to reconcile payroll discrepancies and ensure employee records are updated as needed.
  • Respond to employee inquiries regarding payroll, deductions, and tax withholdings in a professional and timely manner.
  • Support internal and external audits related to payroll and tax compliance.
