About The Position

Ensure that all employees that all working for the School District of Lancaster receive remuneration at the proper time and the proper amount for services rendered to the District.

Requirements

  • Two or more years of post-high-school training with an emphasis on business administration.
  • Competency in the use of business machines.
  • Basic knowledge of payroll procedures as relates to salaries, fringes, and withholdings.
  • Basic knowledge of data processing procedures.

  • Accounting/record-keeping background.
  • Such other alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable.

Responsibilities

  • Calculate, prepare and distribute bi-weekly paychecks for all employees.
  • Provide timely payments of all Federal, State, local taxes, Social Security Payments and other payroll related payments.
  • Calculate and edit all salary increases - management, supervisory, confidential, professional staff and service staff. This includes beginning of year adjustments and also horizontal moves during the year for the professional staff as well as adjustments to service staff salaries as per their negotiated agreement.
  • Calculate, prepare and distribute co-curricular and other contracts as assigned.
  • Provide smooth payment process for all additional work including summer school, evening school and co-curricular to assure employees they are being paid properly.
  • Review salary accounts to assure that all salaries are properly charged.
  • Assist employees with proper processing of payroll-related deductions.
  • Edit quarterly retirement report prior to submitting to PSERS.
  • Calculate deduction payment for unemployment compensation; complete application forms and attend unemployment hearings as needed.
  • Send letters of assurance to long-term substitutes, daily substitutes and service staff employees, who work less than a full year.
  • Provide budget input for salaries.
  • Assist the Director of Administrative Services with budget preparation and review.
  • Provide salary data and/or estimates for completion of employee forms such as retirement, employment verifications, unemployment, etc.
