About The Position

NEP is seeking an experienced Payroll Manager to lead payroll operations and payroll tax administration across a multi-state workforce. This role is responsible for ensuring accurate and timely payroll processing, maintaining compliance with federal, state, and local regulations, and driving payroll process improvements. The ideal candidate is a hands-on leader with strong payroll tax expertise, exceptional attention to detail, and experience managing payroll systems and teams.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of payroll experience, including payroll tax administration
  • Strong knowledge of multi-state payroll and payroll tax compliance
  • Experience with ADP Workforce Now strongly preferred
  • Experience with payroll systems such as ADP, Workday, UKG, SAP, or Oracle
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
  • Advanced Excel and reporting skills preferred

Nice To Haves

  • Prior payroll leadership or supervisory experience preferred
  • CPP or FPC certification is a plus

Responsibilities

  • Manage end-to-end payroll processing for hourly, salaried, and union employees
  • Ensure accurate payroll calculations including overtime, bonuses, commissions, deductions, and garnishments
  • Oversee payroll tax filings, deposits, reconciliations, W-2s, and year-end reporting
  • Maintain compliance with federal, state, and local payroll tax regulations
  • Manage payroll audits, tax notices, agency inquiries, and amendments
  • Supervise and develop payroll team members
  • Partner with HR, Finance, and Accounting on compensation and employee data changes
  • Lead payroll system enhancements, testing, and process improvement initiatives
  • Prepare payroll reporting, analytics, and compliance metrics for leadership
