About The Position

Zachry Group is seeking a Payroll Clerk to assist in the processing of weekly payroll in conformance with established payroll procedures.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma
  • Minimum 1-3 years of related experience
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft programs: Excel, Access, Word and Outlook
  • Must have a solid customer service orientation, accuracy, mathematical reasoning skills, good verbal and written communication skills
  • Good work ethic and excellent organizational skills
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously, with shifting priorities in a dynamic, deadline-driven environment.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision on most projects or tasks
  • Strong interpersonal skills to influence and communicate effectively with all levels of personnel
  • Demonstrate creative problem solving skills
  • Must be detail-oriented and have strong proof-reading skills

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s Degree or professional Associate Degree
  • Minimum 3-5 years related experience

Responsibilities

  • Perform complete payroll process for business unit, entity or unassigned field payrolls and performs mathematical calculations for withholdings and deductions, vacation, sick leave, retroactive pay, overtime, salary changes, etc.
  • Perform payroll edits to release field timecards to payroll system
  • Administer and maintain direct deposits
  • Record and deduct mandatory child support payments, Internal Revenue Service levies and other authorized wage garnishments
  • Complete wage statements for employment commission(s), workers compensation insurance companies and other local, state and federal government agencies
  • Assembles data for the preparation of weekly and quarterly payroll tax deposits
  • Verifies and processes vacation requests for all employees and mails or delivers vacation checks to ‎the appropriate field office or department‎
  • Audits preparation of W4 forms and employee termination data to assure compliance with Company, state and federal requirements
  • Process W4s, ESR personnel updates, corrections and special payments
  • Researches employee annual and prior years wage information as requested
  • Monitors employee account balances‎
  • Organizes and maintains files of records and correspondence of both a routine and confidential nature
  • Perform others duties as assigned
