Teads is seeking an energized, curious and solutions-driven Payroll & Benefits Manager to join our People & Culture team in the NYC office, supporting our employee population across the US and Canada. This is a unique opportunity to join during an exciting period of transition and transformation within our payroll operations. We are looking for someone who is hands-on, detail-oriented, and eager to roll up their sleeves to manage end-to-end payroll while helping us build scalable, efficient processes for the future. The ideal candidate brings strong operational payroll experience: Someone who has run payroll independently and understands the details, while also having the mindset to improve, optimize and strengthen controls as we grow. You’ll work with a collaborative and proactive People & Culture team that values partnership, accountability and continuous improvement. Requirements

  • 5–8 years of hands-on, end-to-end payroll and benefits experience
  • Proven experience independently running multi-state US payroll (Canada required)
  • Strong knowledge of payroll tax, compliance, reporting, and benefits regulations
  • Experience with reconciliations, garnishments, deductions, and audits
  • Paylocity experience preferred
  • Experience managing benefits brokers and evaluating market offerings
  • Highly detail-oriented with strong analytical skills
  • Process-minded, with a track record of building scalable systems
  • Comfortable in a changing, high-growth environment

  • High degree of confidentiality and integrity

Responsibilities

  • Own end-to-end payroll processing across multiple US states and Canada
  • Manage commissions, bonuses, reimbursements, equity payouts, and off-cycle payments
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, local, and Canadian regulations
  • Maintain payroll system accuracy (new hires, terminations, changes, deductions)
  • Serve as subject matter expert for payroll compliance and employee inquiries
  • Partner with Finance on reconciliations, reporting, and audits
  • Manage leaves (PFL, STD, LTD), unemployment claims, and employment verifications
  • Liaise with payroll providers, tax agencies, and legal partners
  • Support required filings (EEOC, Workers’ Comp, ACA, etc.)
  • Drive payroll process improvements and internal controls
  • Oversee US and Canada benefit programs (health, retirement, disability, wellness, voluntary plans)
  • Manage brokers and vendors, including negotiations, invoicing, and performance
  • Lead open enrollment and new hire enrollments
  • Ensure compliance (ERISA, ACA, audits, reporting)
  • Analyze benefits data and costs; make recommendations to optimize offerings
  • Own employee communications and serve as primary point of contact
  • Administer benefits platforms (retirement, COBRA, disability, HRIS, etc.)
