The only question is—are you ready to grow with us? The Payroll & Benefits Administrator is pivotal in ensuring accurate and timely employee compensation and managing the company’s benefits programs. This role requires expertise in both finance and human resources.

  • 3-5 years of Payroll and Benefits experience required.
  • Minimum Education: High School diploma or equivalent required.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of HR principles, practices, and regulations is preferred.
  • Experience with Paycom is a plus.
  • Experience with fully self-funded health plans is a plus.
  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, management, or human resources.

Responsibilities

  • Act as the primary contact for payroll-related matters, providing recommendations for payroll policies and training managers and staff to ensure compliance and efficient tool utilization.
  • Ensure timely, accurate, and compliant processing of the organization’s bi-weekly payroll.
  • Audit and process payroll documents, including employee data for new hires, changes, and additional earnings.
  • Process employee time and attendance data, reconcile variances, and approve time in the system.
  • Maintain accurate and confidential employee files, including vacation and sick time records.
  • Develop an in-depth understanding of payroll software and HRIS, create reports, and assist employees with online portal access and issues.
  • Approve HR-related benefits deductions invoices for payment and request refunds if there are issues with invoices.
  • Maintain vendor contacts for payroll and other HR-related activities.
  • Manage unclaimed payroll to different state agencies.
  • Administer all employee and volunteer benefit programs, including medical, dental, vision, disability, and retirement plans (defined contribution 401(k) and defined benefit plans).
  • Conduct in-depth benefit presentations for new hires during onboarding, distribute enrollment materials, and determine eligibility.
  • Assist employees with benefits claim issues, plan changes, and status updates.
  • Enroll employees with carriers and process life status changes.
  • Collaborate with HR benefit partners for escalated support needs, such as plan design, claims administration, COBRA, retirement administration, and HRIS data integrity.
  • Oversee 401(k) plans, including contributions, compliance, employee communication, and audits when necessary.
  • Manage the Work Opportunity Tax Credit (WOTC) program.
  • Manage the advanced payroll process (Rain).
  • Manage ACA compliance and reporting through Paycom, including tracking employee eligibility, generating required forms (1094/1095), and ensuring timely filing.
  • Manage State and Federal surveys/ reporting
  • Manage Black Box Compensation survey
  • Help manage Workers Comp claims
  • Ensure compliance with workers’ compensation regulations.
  • Cultivate positive relationships with benefit providers and vendors.
  • Coordinate open enrollment periods for benefit plan changes.
  • Participate in career fairs to attract potential talent.
  • Provide company-wide training on HRIS systems.
  • Analyze turnover rates, headcount, and retention metrics monthly.
  • Monitor and analyze overtime hours, prepare and distribute reports to leadership.
  • Provide support for onboarding franchisee groups into payroll systems.
  • Has a thorough understanding of Slim Chickens' established operating systems (e.g., quality, security, office environment, company policies, safety) and recognizes the responsibility to stay updated on these systems and the role this position plays in supporting them.
  • Performs other duties as necessary in support of business objectives.
