About The Position

Columbus Distributing Company is a family-owned sales and service corporation distributing Anheuser-Busch, Yuengling, craft, and imported beers in Franklin County, Ohio. The Payroll and Benefits Coordinator is responsible for managing and processing employee payroll, administering benefits programs, and ensuring compliance with company policies and legal regulations. This role plays a key part in supporting employees by ensuring accurate compensation and access to benefits. Responsibilities include processing both union and non-union payroll across weekly and biweekly cycles, as well as interpreting and applying collective bargaining agreements (CBAs) to ensure accurate and compliant payroll administration. Responsible for handling incoming departmental calls, assist and greet visitors via the intercom system.

Requirements

  • Associate or bachelor’s degree in human resources, Accounting, Business Administration, or related field
  • Experience processing payroll, including weekly and biweekly cycles
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Knowledge of payroll systems and HRIS platforms
  • Familiarity with tax laws and benefits regulations
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving abilities
  • Understanding benefits compliance (e.g., ACA, ADA, COBRA, and FMLA)

Nice To Haves

  • Experience managing union payroll in compliance with collective bargaining agreements (CBAs) is a plus, including handling union dues, benefits, and contract-specific pay rules
  • Experience with payroll software (e.g., ADP, Paychex) experience with Paycom is a plus

Responsibilities

  • Process weekly and biweekly payroll cycles accurately and on schedule
  • Maintain payroll records, including wages, deductions, bonuses, and taxes
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll laws and regulations
  • Review and reconcile payroll data to identify and resolve discrepancies
  • Coordinate payroll changes such as new hires, terminations, and pay adjustments
  • Respond to employee payroll inquiries in a timely manner
  • Administer employee benefits programs including health, dental, vision, retirement, and leave plans
  • Assist employees with benefits enrollment, changes, and claims issues
  • Maintain and update benefits records in HR systems
  • Administer and support annual open enrollment
  • Act as liaison between employees, reconciles billing with benefit providers
  • Carries out additional duties and special projects as assigned
