Prepare necessary reclass journal entries and provide guidance to payroll administrators on payroll adjustments and updates. Liaise with Finance on G/L inquiries and escalations. Assist in preparation of third-party remittance requisitions, reporting, file submissions and reconciliations. Verify payroll tax remittances and third party remittances against supporting payroll records before submitting to payroll manager for approval. Manage monthly Garnishee remittances including requesting monthly payments, updating garnishee list, and distribution of payment cheques. Audit and validate PTO balances on bi-weekly basis and prepare adjustment entries to clear out balances for terminated employees. Support and work with Payroll team on payroll calculations relating to union collective agreements and new ratified agreements. Assist in year-end processing, annual government filings and reconciliations. Assist the payroll compliance team with special projects, and implementation of payroll changes required by legislations or union agreements Who you are: Minimum Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business, Commerce or related discipline 3 – 5 years’ experience with Payroll and or Accounting with payroll process experience Payroll Compliance Practitioner (PCP) is an additional bonus Advanced user of Microsoft Excel – Look Up, Tables, Formulas, with ability to prepare reports Ability to analyze data and provide recommended solutions. Maintain professional and technical knowledge (legislative changes, collective agreement ratifications) Ability to work effectively within a team environment and independently in a fast paced environment with minimal supervision. Ability to multi-task and prioritize. Effective verbal and written English communication skills required.
