The Opportunity This position works out of our Abbott Park, IL location within the CHR Corporate Human Resources division. The Payroll Analyst will support the Payroll Operations team in ensuring accurate and timely payroll processing for U.S. and P.R.-based employees. This role is critical to maintaining compliance with internal policies and external regulations, and will contribute to continuous improvement initiatives within the payroll function.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field.
  • 2+ years of payroll experience, preferably in a large corporate environment.
  • Strong understanding of payroll systems and timekeeping tools (e.g., Kronos, Workday).
  • Knowledge of U.S. payroll laws and regulations (FLSA, IRS, state tax rules).
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUP, etc.).
  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Strong communication and customer service skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.

Nice To Haves

  • CPP (Certified Payroll Professional) or FPC certification.
  • Experience with multi-state payroll and union/non-union environments.
  • Familiarity with payroll reporting and analytics tools.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in processing weekly and bi-weekly payroll for U.S. and P.R. employees using payroll systems (e.g., Workday).
  • Review payroll records, payroll inputs, and deductions to ensure accuracy and compliance.
  • Respond to employee inquiries regarding pay and deductions in a timely and professional manner.
  • Collaborate with HR, Benefits, Timekeeping and Data Integrity teams to ensure payroll alignment.
  • Support internal and external audits by preparing documentation and reports.
  • Identify and recommend process improvements to enhance payroll accuracy and efficiency.
  • Stay informed of changes in federal, state, and local payroll regulations.
